Finisher
Thomas S. Monson shared his thoughts about people who finish what they start in an article titled, “Finishers Wanted”. I must admit that sometimes I am worn out by the time it comes to the end of a project or right now when it comes to the end of my college classes. I am often rushing to finish and look forward to my break. The last few semesters I have really tried to focus on enjoying the learning process more and take my time as I study the material. I have worked to schedule my life in such a way that I no longer feel stressed about fitting it all in and making sure that each item on my list has the allotted time needed to complete it and enjoy the process while I accomplish my to-do list. “To be finishers, we need to visualize the objective, work with effort toward the goal, apply sincere faith in the Lord, be virtuous, take courage when needed, and seek help from our Heavenly Father.” (Thomas S. Monson, Finishers Wanted) Based on what Thomas Monson said, I ask myself what am I missing? I do think I could rely on my Heavenly Father more and have faith in what He guides me to do when it comes to my to-do list!
If I were Randy Pausch and were giving one final lecture, I would likely give advice that you have all heard. “Enjoy the journey, don’t rush this opportunity, you only get one shot at this time in your life.” Enjoy every moment. Easier said than done, I know. It really is up to you to find joy in the journey of life, nobody can do that for you. The same could be said about entrepreneurship and the journey of creating your own business, enjoy the process! Look at each difficulty as an opportunity to learn and grow and become. My last lecture would be similar to Randy’s, enjoy life, don’t take yourself too seriously, and be thankful for the opportunity. This will inevitably allow you to be a “Finisher” of great and noble works.
